2024 Gulf Book Award Winners
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Gulf Book Award.

Dr. Kristian Coates Ulrichsen's "Centers of Power in the Arab Gulf States," published by Oxford University Press, is this year's awardee in the Political Studies category. His book offers an in-depth analysis of the evolving power dynamics within the Gulf states, complementing his extensive publication record on Gulf politics, security, and international relations. Dr. Ulrichsen's previous works, including "The Gulf States in International Political Economy" and "Qatar and the Gulf Crisis," have significantly contributed to our understanding of Gulf states in the global context.

Dr. Karen E. Young has been awarded in the Economic Studies category for her enlightening work "The Economic Statecraft of the Gulf Arab States: Deploying Aid, Investment and Development Across the MENAP," published by IB Tauris/Bloomsbury. This book builds on her extensive research and publications on the political economy of energy, finance, and security in the Gulf and broader MENA region. Dr. Young's previous book, "The Political Economy of Energy, Finance and Security in the United Arab Emirates," and her numerous articles in prestigious outlets, have established her as a leading voice in her field.
These awards recognize their outstanding contributions to the scholarly examination of the Gulf region, highlighting the significant impact of their work on our understanding of economic and political developments in the Gulf.
