Andrew McIntosh is a young researcher, with a focus on media and geopolitics in the Middle East and North Africa. He is currently the Director of Research at Salam for Democracy and Human Rights, and a contributor to the Richardson Institute for Peace Studies and Human Rights First. His current research focuses are on media, democracy and ethnoreligious politics in the Gulf and the Levant.

Andrew was the recipient of the Phillips Hills Award for excellence in research, completing his PhD in Media History at the University of Essex. He has contributed journals to the Institute for International Affairs and the American University in Cairo Press and published articles at DAWN and the Institute of Statelessness and Inclusion.
