{"id":595,"date":"2023-09-13T11:03:36","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T11:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulfif.org\/app\/gss-workshops\/?page_id=595"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:58:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T16:58:57","slug":"abstract-submission-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gulfif.org\/app\/gss-workshops\/abstract-submission-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Abstract Submission Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\t\tExhibitors\t<\/h1>\n\t<p><strong>Abstract Submission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abstract submissions must be in line with workshop topics to be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>All abstracts should clearly lay out the thesis and argument of the suggested paper topic.<\/li>\n<li>Paper abstract should be 300-500 words.<\/li>\n<li>The selection process is conducted by the workshop Chairs.<\/li>\n<li>Once selected, participants must confirm their attendance for the GSS workshop by the deadline requested.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of an application and abstract indicates agreement with GSS policies and guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>\nApplicants may apply to two workshops to increase their chances of participating in GSS. However, presenters are not permitted to submit a paper or present in more than one workshop. If an applicant is approved for two workshops, they must immediately choose one and withdraw from the other, allowing the Chairs to offer the spot to another candidate.\n<\/li>\n<li>Participants are expected to provide original work, with the understanding that they are bound by publication obligations (see Publication Plan section in each workshop page).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Logistics and Travel Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All paper presenters are expected to participate <strong>in person<\/strong> at the workshops in Doha, Qatar, on April 11-12, 2026. Presenters are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and covering the associated expenses to attend the Gulf Studies Symposium. Students and scholars whose trip to GSS is not supported by their respective institutions may be eligible to apply for a grant. Please note that grants are awarded per paper, and if a paper is presented by more than one presenter, only one grant will be provided. Only presenters who travel to Doha, and participate in the two-day symposium are eligible for this grant. Required documentation will need to be submitted to confirm eligibility. Grant requests must be submitted within 60 days of the symposium&#8217;s conclusion. The grant amounts are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presenters traveling to Doha from the GCC states excluding those residing in Qatar: $300<\/li>\n<li>Presenters traveling to Doha from the Middle East and North Africa, that includes North African countries, Levant countries, Iraq, Yemen, Iran and Turkey: $450<\/li>\n<li>Presenters traveling to Doha from Africa (excluding North Africa), Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia, South East Asia and Europe: $600<\/li>\n<li>Presenters traveling to Doha from the Americas: $700<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To request a one-time travel grant, please submit the following documents to gss@gulfif.org:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A completed GSS Stipend Form (<a href=\"https:\/\/gulfif.org\/app\/gss-workshops\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/GSS-Stipend-Form.docx\">click here to download<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>A completed and signed Non-Recepeint Grant Letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/gulfif.org\/app\/gss-workshops\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2025-Second-GSS-NonReceipnt-Grant-Letter.docx\">click here to download<\/a>). <strong>All applicants must submit a signed copy of this letter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Flight ticket and hotel\/AirBnB receipts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exhibitors Abstract Submission: Abstract submissions must be in line with workshop topics to be accepted.
