Synopsis

This timely conference aims to generate bold, actionable policy ideas that address the most urgent challenges and untapped opportunities in education across the Gulf. While the region has made substantial investments in its education sector, it continues to face systemic barriers: outdated curricula, poor labor market alignment, unequal quality across institutions, and limited digital integration. As the Gulf transitions to knowledge-based economies, educational systems must evolve to prepare youth for the demands of a future shaped by rapid technological transformation.

The roundtable is divided into three sessions:

Session 1: Transforming Education in the GCC: Addressing Curriculum, Quality, Equality, and Digital Innovation

This session examines the urgent need to modernize GCC education systems—from curriculum reform and digital integration to teacher training and family engagement. It explores how these reforms can reduce youth unemployment and prepare students for emerging industries.

Session 2: Addressing the Disparities in Gulf Higher Education Systems: Western Satellite Campuses and Local Universities

This session explores the growing divide between foreign branch campuses and domestic universities. It focuses on harmonizing standards, building local research capacity, and developing strategic partnerships that align educational institutions with national goals.

Session 3: Solutions to the Education and Labor Gap in the GCC

This session focuses on the persistent mismatch between educational outputs and labor market needs. It examines the roles of vocational training, private sector collaboration, and curriculum modernization in achieving workforce nationalization and sustainable development.
