Congressman Theodore Deutch (D-FL22) introduced legislation calling on Iran to unconditionally release all American citizens and legal residents currently being imprisoned in Iran. The legislation mentions several notable disappearances, including that of Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent who was last seen on Iran’s Kish Island in March 2007. In November 2016 the U.S. determined the Iranian government was responsible for Levinson’s disappearance and arbitrary detention. In addition to Levinson, the bill mentions other U.S residents detained by Iran including Siamak Namazi, Baquer Namazi, Xiyue Wang and Nizar Zakka.
