Algeria and Kuwait’s Metro Holding Company Discuss Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen Cooperation
Algeria’s Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, received Sheikh Mishal Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chairman of Kuwait’s Metro Holding Company, to discuss potential cooperation between Algeria and the Kuwaiti firm, particularly in renewable energy and green hydrogen development. Metro proposed a project aimed at harnessing Algeria’s significant solar and wind resources to produce and export green hydrogen. The initiative emphasizes technology transfer and localizing industrial capabilities—especially in electrolyzer manufacturing—while also focusing on developing national expertise and enhancing local content. Minister Arkab highlighted Algeria’s strategic geographic location, abundant renewable energy resources, and advanced infrastructure as key advantages positioning the country to become a leading regional hub for green hydrogen production and export to Europe.
