China’s COOEC wins $4 billion EPC contract for Qatar’s Bul Hanine Field

China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), a subsidiary of CNOOC, has secured an EPC contract worth up to $4 billion for QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine offshore oil field. The project, the largest Chinese offshore oil and gas engineering contract in the Middle East, involves designing, procuring, constructing, transporting, installing, and commissioning over 60 offshore facilities and 40 subsea pipelines and cables. Located about 100 kilometers east of Qatar’s coast in water up to 40 meters deep, the project will process over 130,000 tons of steel and is scheduled for completion by mid-2031.
