This bill - sponsored by Rep. Gregory Steube [R-FL] - seeks to provide supplemental payments equal to 25 percent of the employee’s annual rate of basic pay to Federal personnel performing immigration enforcement operations in a hazardous duty area. The bill offsets the cost of this supplemental bonus by establishing a surcharge on international remittance transfers. This includes a $199 surcharge on wire transfers to specified foreign countries, which include Iran and Yemen.
