This resolution— introduced by Rep. Ansari, Yassamin [D-AZ-3]-- calls for the recognition and expression of support for the Iranian people protesting for a free and democratic Iran. In addition, the resolution condemns the oppression Iranians have faced during the Islamic republic, demands the Iranian regime cease its threats, intimidation, and violence against peaceful protesters, and urges immediate expansion of unrestricted internet access and civilian lines of communication across Iran. Moreover, Representative Ansari and fellow submitters implore the Government of the United States to work in coordination with its allies to consider and implement concrete measures to deter further lethal violence against protesters. The resolution was introduced on January 16th, 2026 and referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on the same day.
