Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE01) introduced a resolution that the House formally recognize its support for the repatriation of Iraqi religious minorities to their ethnic homelands in Iraq. The bill specifically mentions Iraq’s Nineveh Plain, and highlights the discrimination that has historically been faced by Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Christians, Yazidis and Shabak. The bill calls on the U.S. to work with international organizations and the Kurdish regional government to integrate all religious communities.
