An Iranian government spokesperson said today that his country sold the oil from the tanker released in Gibraltar without identifying the recipient of the oil nor the destination. The vessel carries 2 million barrels of oil, and a U.S. federal court has recently ordered the seizure of the tanker. Tehran threatened that a U.S. move to seize the tanker would have heavy consequences.
