Iraq has restored production at Lukoil’s West Qurna 2 oilfield, one of the world’s largest, after a leak on an export pipeline temporarily reduced output, two Iraqi energy officials told Reuters on Monday. Last month, Lukoil declared force majeure at West Qurna 2 after sanctions were imposed on it and Rosneft as part of former President Trump’s efforts related to the Ukraine conflict. The field produces around 460,000 barrels per day, representing roughly 0.5% of global oil supply and 9% of Iraq’s total output, the second-largest producer in OPEC after Saudi Arabia. Full operations are expected to resume in the coming hours as oil wells are brought back online, one of the sources said.
