Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI02) introduced a bill seeking to classify Presidential pursuits of war (without approval from Congress) as qualifying for the ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ definition of an impeachable offense. While the bill does not mention any country by name, on June 17th, 2019 Congresswoman Gabbard stated at a campaign stop that the bill is meant as a safeguard against what she implied was President Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Congresswoman Gabbard is a candidate for the Democratic Nomination for President in 2020.
