Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX10) introduced legislation that names threats from Iran as the primary impetus for a continued military presence in the region. The legislation is similar in name and content to bill introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) in the Senate, that on February 5th, 2019 passed in the Senate with several key amendments that are not a part of Rep. McCaul’s iteration of the bill. It is unclear to what extent the bill will be considered beyond the initial step of being introduced.
