Saudi Arabia has awarded 4.5 gigawatts (GW) of new solar and wind capacity under the sixth round of its National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), the government said. The round includes five projects—one wind and four solar—with total investments estimated at around $2.4 billion. The awarded projects are: Masdar’s 1.4 GW Najran solar project in the Najran region; the 600 MW Ad Darb and 600 MW Samtah solar projects in Jazan province; the 400 MW Sufun solar project in Hail province; and the 1.5 GW Dawadmi wind project.
