  • Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) Introduces S. 612
Senator Ed Markey introduced the Senate iteration of a bill that seeks to ensure any US-Saudi Nuclear cooperation is subject to Congressional approval. The bill also makes clear that the United States should not engage in nuclear cooperation with Saudi Arabia unless the nation becomes more transparent in the factors that led to the death of Jamal Khashoggi. Additionally, the bill calls for Saudi Arabia to fall in-line with the “gold standard” of non-proliferation, meaning that Saudi Arabia should not enrich Uranium within it’s own borders. The bill is cosponsored by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL).
