  • Strait of Hormuz Shipping Traffic Remains Well Below Recent Average
Only four commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on September 3, down from nine a day earlier and well below the ten-day average of roughly 15 vessels, according to preliminary Kpler data reported on September 4. The vessels included two medium-range tankers, one Kamsarmax carrier and one Handysize vessel. Kpler data also showed that only two very large crude carriers had crossed the strait during the week, highlighting the continued disruption to Gulf energy shipping. Before the Iran war began in February, about 125 large commercial vessels crossed the strait each day.
