Last May the UAE became Japan’s largest oil supplier as it increased oil exports to Japan by 42.8% from April to average 1.03 million b/d. Japan is Asia's third-largest energy consumer and the spike of oil imports from the UAE was to make up for the loss of Iranian oil as US waivers ended at the beginning of May.
