Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qyyum is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, with research spanning AI-driven sustainable energy systems, the hydrogen economy, LNG, CCUS, and carbon governance. His work focuses on advancing the Gulf’s energy transition and aligning technological innovation with regional net-zero strategies. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, holds five patents, and has consistently been ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists by Elsevier and Stanford University in 2022, 2023, and 2024. His research combines process modeling and simulation, AI-driven design optimization, techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment, and policy analysis to develop pathways for decarbonization and carbon market development. Dr. Qyyum has led and co-led numerous funded projects in Oman on hydrogen, LNG, CCUS, and energy efficiency. He frequently serves as an invited speaker at international conferences, including panels hosted by the International Energy Agency, and contributes to scientific committees for multiple international conferences and forums. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Qyyum advises industry partners in Oman, Europe, and Asia on integrating AI and cryogenic technologies into practical decarbonization solutions. He also serves on the editorial boards of international journals.
