FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 11, 2024 GULF INTERNATIONAL FORUM WELCOMES NEW NON-RESIDENT FELLOWS Washington, DC: The Gulf International Forum, headquartered in Washington, DC, is proud to announce the addition of two distinguished scholars to its Non-Resident Fellowship Program. The newest members, Dr. Aziz Alghashian and Mr. Khaled Almaeena, bring extensive expertise in Saudi foreign policy, Middle East geopolitics, and media. Their diverse insights and unique professional experiences will significantly enrich the Forum’s scholarship and discussions. "We are delighted to welcome Dr. Alghashian and Mr. Almaeena to our fellowship," said Gulf International Forum Executive Director Dr. Dania Thafer. "Both individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their fields, and we are excited about the perspectives they will bring to our mission of fostering understanding and dialogue about the Gulf region." The Non-Resident Fellowship Program, established in 2018, seeks to expand the conversation on the politics, economics, and societal dynamics of the Gulf region. Fellows collaborate with the Forum on research and publications and contribute to its events and initiatives.

The New Fellows:

Dr. Aziz Alghashian: Dr. Alghashian, a Saudi researcher and Director of Research at ORF Middle East in Dubai, specializes in Saudi foreign policy, with a particular focus on Saudi-Israeli and Arab-Israeli relations. He has pursued academic excellence, earning degrees in International Relations from Nottingham Trent University and Diplomacy from the University of Essex, where he is now a PhD candidate. With experience as a lecturer in Middle Eastern politics and a participant in track-2 dialogues, Dr. Alghashian is also a sought-after media analyst on Saudi affairs. Khaled Almaeena: A veteran Middle East journalist and media analyst, Mr. Almaeena has held prominent roles in Saudi media, including Editor-in-Chief of Arab News and Saudi Gazette. His leadership guided Arab News through pivotal moments like the Gulf Crisis and Arab Spring. With honors including the Sitara-e Imtiaz from Pakistan and a Doctorate in Humanities, Mr. Almaeena continues to shape discourse on regional issues. He is also a visiting nonresident scholar at the University of Central Florida. Washington, DC: The Gulf International Forum, headquartered in Washington, DC, is proud to announce the addition of two distinguished scholars to its Non-Resident Fellowship Program. The newest members, Dr. Aziz Alghashian and Mr. Khaled Almaeena, bring extensive expertise in Saudi foreign policy, Middle East geopolitics, and media. Their diverse insights and unique professional experiences will significantly enrich the Forum’s scholarship and discussions.
