Sarhang Hamasaeed is a senior practitioner in peacebuilding, governance, and Middle East affairs, with over two decades of experience across government, non-profits, international institutions, and the media. From 2011 to 2025, Hamasaeed worked at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, DC, where he led Middle East programs on post-conflict stabilization, reconciliation, and peacebuilding. In his articles, media commentary, and lectures at the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute, as well as briefings to U.S. Government, Congressional and other interlocutors, Hamasaeed covers Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and the Gulf. He also analyzes broader dynamics involving U.S. policy, Iran, Türkiye, the GCC, and global power competition. Hamasaeed is a Fulbright alumnus and holds a master’s degree in international development policy from Duke University.
